Racket is the usual spelling of the word for the paddle-like device used in net games such as tennis. Racquet is an alternative form—it was originally a misspelling of the French word, and has appeared to varying degrees since entering English in the 19th century—now mainly confined to certain contexts, appearing especially in names (such as Health & Racquet Club) and in reference to the sports of squash and racquetball. In tennis, racket is the preferred spelling. This is the case throughout the English-speaking world but the preference for racket is strongest in North America.

Yes. At StringFix we’re keen to use whatever string you believe is best for your racket and your game style. That includes string you supply yourself. It’s cheaper to use your own string, though you will have to pay for the string wherever you source it from. See our Services page for more details of prices, with and without your own string. We are always happy to discuss what might best suit the way you play, so give us a call.

Our services include racket customisation, whereby we are able to adjust the racket’s weight and balance to provide a tailor-made set-up. Other services include new replacement grips, bumper and grommit strips, logo stencilling on strings and shock dampeners. Treat your racket to a makeover.

Rackets can be dropped off and picked up in person from StringFix in Sutton, Sunbury/Feltham, and all of the surrounding areas. Alternatively, pick-up and delivery can be arranged. Cost for pick-up/delivery will depend on your location and number of rackets. Payment is by cash, card, cheque, BACS transfer or PayPal.
